We are going super simple tonight. My husband is off to work and the kids had the last day in one of their classes. We had treats and snack food and so no one is extremely hungry. But we need to eat something, because by the end of the night I’m going to hear “mom I’m hungry and wasting away to nothing”. My kids are a bit dramatic, but irregardless I need to make sure their bellies are full.
So I looked in the freezer. Low and behold I found a quick easy meal that the kids love, but my husband won’t eat. That makes for a good night to cook it up.
- Crab and shrimp ravioli $4.99 (per bag)
- Butter $2.99 a lb (1 stick of butter)
- Lemon juice $2.50 for 15oz (2 tbs)
- Salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
Okay, so what does our meal work out to cost for tonight, probably a bit more than normal for us because of the crab and shrimp ravioli but sometimes a treat is nice.
$4.99 + $4.99 + .74 + .17 + .03 + .06 = $10.98
So tonight only 4 of us are eating so cost per serving (if there are no leftovers) would be $10.98/4=$2.74 a serving or per person. Again our servings are not necessarily what the package says is the serving, ours tend to be on the larger size. We eat until we are full, not stuffed just comfortably full.
I know this meal doesn’t have any veggies, but like I said this is a treat and we had an array of snacks, veggies, fruits, etc earlier.
What is a special meal you like to make as a treat?
